Privacy Policy

How Cal. handles your data

Effective date: August 18, 2026

Who we are

Cal. is developed and maintained by Daren Irlen, operating as Feather Studio. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to Feather Studio. You can reach us at featherstudio@proton.me.

What data Cal. stores — and where

Cal. stores the following data locally on your device only, using Apple's standard UserDefaults and local file storage:

None of this data is transmitted to Feather Studio's servers. We do not have access to your calendar events, notes, or any content you create in Cal.

Calendar data (EventKit)

If you enable Calendar sync, Cal. requests access to your iPhone's calendar data through Apple's EventKit framework. This allows Cal. to:

Calendar data accessed through EventKit stays on your device and syncs through your own Apple ID or Google account — not through Feather Studio. Cal. does not read, store, or transmit your calendar data to external servers.

Voice input and speech recognition

Cal. uses Apple's Speech Recognition framework (SFSpeechRecognizer) to convert your voice to text. Apple may transmit audio to its servers for processing, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. Feather Studio does not receive, store, or process any audio or voice data.

Voice language preferences (English, French, Spanish, or device default) are stored locally on your device only.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, Cal. schedules local notifications on your device using Apple's notification framework. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on-device. No notification content is transmitted to Feather Studio's servers.

Analytics and third-party services

Cal. does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services. We do not collect usage data, crash reports, or behavioural analytics.

Purchases made through Cal. Pro are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple's privacy practices for in-app purchases are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data retention and deletion

All data created in Cal. is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling Cal. removes all local data. There is no server-side account, so we cannot retrieve or delete data on your behalf — because we never had access to it.

If Calendar sync is enabled, events written to your "Cal." calendar in Apple Calendar will remain in Apple Calendar after Cal. is uninstalled, since that data belongs to your Apple ID.

Children's privacy

Cal. is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and post the revised version at this URL. Continued use of Cal. after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
