Privacy Policy

Plume is a reading companion app built for people who take their reading seriously. Your privacy is fundamental to what we believe — your reading life is personal, and we treat it that way.

What we collect

Plume collects only what is necessary to provide the app experience:

• Your library data — books, highlights, notes, reading dates, and ratings you add. This is stored locally on your device using IndexedDB.
• Your name — optionally provided during onboarding. Stored locally only, never transmitted to us.
• iCloud sync data — if you enable iCloud sync, your library data is synced through your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. We never see this data.

What we do not collect

• We do not collect email addresses or create user accounts.
• We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs of any kind.
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
• We do not collect device identifiers, location data, or usage telemetry.

Third-party services

Plume uses the following third-party services to provide certain features:

• Google Books API — used to search for book metadata (title, author, cover, synopsis). Queries are sent to our Cloudflare Worker which caches results. No personal data is included in these requests.
• AniList / MangaDex — used to search for manga metadata. Same approach as Google Books — no personal data included.
• Apple CloudKit — used for optional iCloud sync. Your data stays in your personal iCloud account and is accessible only to you.
• RevenueCat — used to process the one-time Plume Pro purchase through Apple's App Store. RevenueCat's privacy policy applies to purchase transactions. We receive only confirmation of purchase status.

Data storage

All your reading data is stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, a copy is stored in your personal iCloud account — accessible only to you. We have no servers and no access to your data.

Data deletion

You can delete all your Plume data at any time from Profile → App data → Delete all data. This permanently removes all books, highlights, notes, and reading history from your device.

Children

Plume is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of Plume after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
